If you’re thinking about buying a phytocannabinoid-rich CBD hemp oil, you probably already know the benefits of phytocannabinoids, a molecule synthesized by plants. These molecules work with endocannabinoids (molecules produced by our bodies) to help treat conditions that may be caused by an endocannabinoid deficiency, like migraines and fibromyalgia.
But while you might know the benefits, what you might not know is that there are a lot of things to consider when purchasing phytocannabinoid-rich CBD hemp oil.
Tip: While CBD can come from marijuana plants as well as hemp plants, for this post we’re going to discuss and focus on CBD hemp oil products, phytocannabinoid-rich hemp oil products from hemp.
If you just Google CBD Oil, chances are you’ll find a variety of articles, news segments, and stories about all the inconsistencies that are found among the different CBD products that are made. Some products even contain heavy metals and pesticides (yuck!). It’s enough to leave you feeling overwhelmed, confused, and frustrated.
If you’re just starting your CBD search, we don’t want to feel frustrated. So, to help ease your anxiety, we’ve compiled some quick guidelines on buying safe and effective CBD oil.
1. Buy CBD From American-grown Hemp
The first thing you need to do is make sure that the oil you buy is from American-grown hemp. There are a variety of products on the market that are grown overseas where the growth of hemp is not as closely regulated. American regulations ensure the product is clean and pure.
2. Buy Organic and Chemical-free CBD
Before you buy, you want to make sure that the source of your oil is organic and free from chemicals, heavy metals, and toxins. To find out, look for the lab report. A number of products out there have a QRS code on the bottle. Just scan this with your phone and it will take you to the lab report on the product’s website.
Just like anything else, it’s important to pay attention to the ingredients in the hemp oil we purchase. If there is no QRS code, you can request the lab report on their website.
3. Buy Broad Spectrum & Phytocannabinoid-Rich CBD
That’s a mouthful, so let’s break it down.
Broad Spectrum: This means the product contains the full-plant extract. This includes terpenes, flavonoids, omega’s, and all the other cannabinoids present in hemp.
Note: Broad-spectrum means it could contain less than a 0.3% concentration of THC. If you want to keep THC out, make sure you find a bottle that is labeled as having zero THC.
Research shows that broad-spectrum products are more effective than other forms because it leaves out many of the valuable terpenes, flavonoids, omega’s.
4. Leave Our the Preservatives and Artificial Flavor
While this is a great tip for anything we put in our bodies, you want to watch out or any extra chemicals and preservatives and artificial flavoring agents in your CBD. To watch out for this, make sure they’re using natural carrier oils.
5. Know the Amount of CBD per Serving
It’s important to know the amount of CBD per serving, instead of just the amount of CBD on the bottle. Labels continue to evolve and change based on the ever-changing and developing regulations implemented to ensure that all the products are safe and effective. But make sure, again, that you know what you’re buying.
6. Ask Questions
Don’t hesitate to contact the company and ask questions. Transparency is essential especially when it comes to products we out inside our bodies.
Once you’ve made your purchase, keep in mind that it might take time to see results and experience an improved quality of life. No matter what brand you choose, it’s going to take you time to find the dose, and maybe even the product, that works best for you.
